Doanld the Manchurian?
Could Trump be a real life Manchurian candidate?
The Donald has touted his relationship with Vladimir Putin and praised the dictator on several occasions. Now comes word that Trump's campaign manager has been on Putin's payroll. Manafort got over 12 million dollars for his services. More here.
Now Trump's daughter and Putin's girlfriend are vacationing together. Seriously.
It seems like this should raise eyebrows.

LGM says it all
It also captures something I find frustrating in the rhetoric around Hillary Clinton: in some sectors, her favorable movement is never acknowledged. Overturning Citizens United was the only concrete policy proposal she made in her acceptance speech. If you want Citizens United overturned, you should give her a cookie; that’s how you shape politician’s behavior. I’m not saying anyone should cheer a campaign promise with all of their heart; no one should just believe anything Clinton (or any politician) says. They should continue to work to create the political conditions that ensure that she follows through. But it’s not very strategic to send the message that there’s no reward for any leftward motion she makes. Fortunately, I don’t think she’s getting that message overall.

Treason Light
So, actual Presidential Candidate Donald Trump has commited a sort of treason.
I'm not kidding. Trump has suggested that Russia (a foreign power, for those keeping score) should commit an act of cyber warfare against a former United States Secretary of State.
I'm not the only one who finds this troubling.
Trump = Treason seems the sort of thing that should worry voters.

Trump on Cruz
I'm just going to block quote the whole thing, and give the attribution to VOX. I don't want to link to the other places that this is available. Here is what Trump had to say about Ted Cruz after the RNC.
-VOX
If you turn on the television, if you turn on some of the dishonest media, you’ll see, "Oh well, this happened and this happened." What happened?Somebody [Cruz] got booed the hell out a place by thousands and thousands of people. There wasn’t one person in the room. Not one. And then they said, "there may not be unity!" Unity? There wasn’t one person in the room who wasn’t — including the Texas delegation, right?Honestly he may have ruined his political career. I feel so bad. I feel so bad.And you know, he’ll come and endorse over the next little while. He’ll come and endorse. But I don’t want his endorsement! What difference does it make? I don’t want his endorsement. I have such great endors — I don’t want his endorsement. Just, Ted, stay home, relax, enjoy yourself.Just a couple of things: I knew his speech. They gave me his speech. I knew exactly what his speech was, because when you go up to speak, you have to give your speech. You know, we don’t want surprises, right? So they gave it, they came to me, they said, "It’s a boring speech, Mr. Trump. Nothing good, nothing bad. He just congratulates you on the victory and here’s the speech."Well he got up, and in the first two sentences, he added a sentence. In other words, he got up, and he added a sentence. Which could have been viewed as a nasty thing in terms of what he said because it was implying something which is wrong, but that’s okay.So he took his speech — and you’re bound by that speech, just like you’re bound by the pledge. You’re bound by the pledge. So Ted Cruz took his speech that was done — was on the teleprompter — said hello, then made a statement that wasn’t on the speech and went back to his speech.See, to me, that’s dishonorable. To me, not signing a pledge is dishonorable, okay? It’s dishonorable. Not a nice thing to do. And I talk this way because we’re all together. We created the one of the most successful conventions in the history of conventions. And the television ratings for this convention were through the roof.[Trump then spends a couple of minutes talking about ratings, his wife and children's speeches, and the length of his own speech before returning back to Cruz.]Two other things. Two other things, just to finish with Ted because I like Ted. He’s fine.Again, I don’t want his endorsement. If he gives it, I will not accept it. Just so you understand. I will not accept it. It won’t matter. Honestly, he should have done it because nobody cares and he would have been in better shape for four years from now if he’s gonna — I don’t see him winning anyway, frankly. But if he did, it’s fine.Although maybe I’ll set up a Super PAC if he decides to run. Are you allowed to set up a Super PAC, Mike, if you are the president, to fight somebody?[Mike Pence shakes his head and mouths the word "no."]But there were two things that he said yesterday that were lies. Ready?I didn’t start anything with the wife. A PAC, which he’s very friendly with, released a cover story on my wife, who’s this tremendously successful and elegant model, and she was on the cover of GQ magazine. I think it was GQ, right? And GQ magazine is not exactly Penthouse. But she was on the cover of GQ magazine. An artsy picture, but you know, she was a model. Really successful. She didn’t need to marry me. She was making a lot of money. Believe me. In fact, I had to work hard to get her to marry me. It wasn’t that easy. It’s true. It’s so true. You think I’m kidding. So they released this picture, which was — to the people of the state of Utah. I love Utah. I love the people of Utah. But that’s not necessarily where you want to send a risqué photo and everybody in Utah got a picture. And I don’t think they showed that it was GQ. I think they took the GQ off, they cut all the stuff out so you couldn’t see it was a magazine cover from, you know, a reasonably respected magazine. And it was Melania Trump. Now, and I’m saying this just to clear it up because Ted says "he took adv —" I didn’t do anything. Then when I saw somebody tweeted a picture of Melania and a picture of Heidi [Cruz] — who I think, by the way, is a very nice woman and a very beautiful woman, I have to tell you. I think Heidi Cruz is a great person. I think it’s the best thing he’s got going and his kids, if you wanna know the truth. In a certain way, although he’s got good intellect but he doesn’t know how to use it. And he was a good debater but he didn’t do well in the debates against me, according to every poll. I mean every poll. Just a great debater except he lost in every single poll in every single debate. So that takes care of the Heidi thing because Heidi is a terrific woman but they sent out — Now he said, "That was a PAC. We had nothing to do —" Folks, most of us are political people, right? We’re not babies. His people were on the PAC. So he said, "We had nothing to do —, we had to —" Now, probably, you could trace it down with emails, but they’re pretty smart, probably just used phone calls. But look, it was a PAC with many of his friends. It was a Cruz Super PAC. I think he even said, "Well it wasn’t really meant for us." It was a Cruz PAC. It was his people.Okay so they sent out the first picture. Please remember.Okay. Number two.His father. I don't know his father, I met him once. I think he's a lovely guy. I think he's a lovely guy. All I did was point out that on the cover of the National Enquirer there was a picture of him and crazy Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast. Now, Ted never denied that it was his father. Instead he said, "Donald Trump!" — I had nothing to do with it!This was a magazine that frankly, in many respects, should be very respected. They got OJ, they got Edwards. If that was the New York Times, they would've gotten Pulitzer Prizes for their reporting. I've always said, "Why didn't the National Enquirer get the Pulitzer Prize for Edwards, and OJ Simpson, and all of these things?"But anyway, so they have a picture, an old picture, having breakfast with Lee Harvey Oswald. Now, I’m not saying anything. Here’s how the press takes that story. This had nothing to do with me. Except I might have pointed it out, but it had nothing to do with me, I have no control over anything. I might have pointed it out. But nobody ever denied — did anyone ever deny that it was his father? It’s a little hard to do, because it looks like him.So here’s the story, they say, "Donald Trump and his conspiracy theories, he went out and said his father was with Lee Harvey Oswald, and he assassinated the president." What’d I do?So two things. Those were the two points. So on those two points, he said about the endorsement — And I just cleared up, I think I’m doing the right thing in doing it but I have to do it. Number one: The Heidi thing you understand now. Number two: I know nothing about his father, I know nothing about Lee Harvey Oswald. But there was a picture on the front page of the National Enquirer which does have credibility, and they’re not going to do pictures like that because they get sued for a lot of money if things are wrong. Okay? A lot of money. And there was a picture, and that’s the only thing I know. So now they use the two things as the reason he won’t support me.

some two-bit dictator of a country you couldn’t find on a map
Elizabeth Warren is right on this. Donald Trump's RNC speech sounded like
She was talking to Colbert. Colbert should not have moderated in this conversation. He should have agreed. This is a dangerous time. This nation is on the razor edge of electing an unstable bigot who lacks the basic knowledge to be mayor of Upper Sandusky, let alone Commander in Chief of the greatest military on the planet.

The Master
Tonight is the BIG speech from Donald Trump. Hold on to your hats folks, it is likely to be crazy, rambling, racist, jingoistic and weird. Maybe I'm wrong. maybe he will pivot toward the center. I doubt it though. Then, later in the evening Grand Master Bob Dole will give a reading from The Necronomicon.

From the Republican platform:
Nothing about gun violence. Nothing about racism. Nothing about climate change. But, they will fight the porn.
Pornography, with its harmful effects, especially on children, has become a public health crisis that is destroying the lives of millions. We encourage states to continue to fight this public menace and pledge our commitment to children’s safety and well-being.

Help Out, you people.
My sister Tara was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and is confined to her wheelchair. Living in Kansas, there aren't always many resources to get her the equipment she needs. One thing she has always done without is a van with a lift. For years we have had to lift her into a vehicle in order to take her anywhere. This is no longer possible as it is hard on her body as well as ours. A van with a lift would completely change Tara's quality of life. She has many medical appointments as well as things she would like to be able to do. (We cannot take her anywhere with us, including something as simple as eating at a restaurant). I have struggled with doing a fundraiser for this for a very long time and feel this is the only way Tara is going to get what she needs. If you feel compelled to help, we thank you. (I did not know what to set our goal as, it may seem out of reach, but if we are doing this we are going for as reliable a vehicle as possible)Help spread the word!
Help this girl out.

No to Tim kaine
Hillary must not pick Tim Kaine as her Vice President. Kaine is too hawkish (which underscores a big problem with Clinton). Further, he is anti abortion rights. He brags about cutting taxes, including estate taxes (that was a big gift to the wealthy at the expense of the working and middle class). Kaine is a bad idea. A disaster!

Hide the matches
If you have a child that plays with matches you want to fix it. You'll talk to the kid. You may read articles and books. You may discuss the issue with other parents, spend time in online groups, reach out in other ways. Some people in that situation will see the family doctor. A psychiatrist may be consulted. You will, almost certainly, look for root causes and try to find a long term solution. That only makes sense.
Before you do any of that, though, unless you are an absolute moron, you will hide the fucking matches.
Let me repeat that:
HIDE THE FUCKING MATCHES!

I miss Roger Ebert. Even his memory can enlighten us. Today I read a review of a documentary from 2012 and found that it speaks to this very day.
You've been Trumped
In medieval times, the nobility enjoyed something called droit du seigneur, their right to deflower their serfs' virgin daughters before their marriage. These days the nobility has been replaced by billionaire bullies, who continue to screw us serfs.

maybe the only good thing I do
I help out with an animal rescue. I foster dogs that are awaiting a permanent family. I also help with other things. It is possibly the only truly good thing that I do. That rescue needs help. They are trying so hard to stay afloat so that they can continue to save lives. It isn't easy for a non-profit to make it in this economy. You can help. This is no surprise. You don't expect Sarah Palin, Ben Carson et al to actually write anything. These people are grifters, nothing more. The right is filled with people like Milo. They don't have ideas, or skills, or anything worthwhile. If they did, they might do actual work somewhere.

Batman versus Superman
It most assuredly does not suck. I want to get that out there right up
front. Now that I've said that, let me tell you about all of the things
that do suck:
1. Really, we're doing the Batman origin story again? Why?
2. Every scene featuring Lois and Superman together outside of the action sequences are dull and pointless.
3. Several minutes of shirtless Affleck doing cross fit seems a bit much.
4. Someone, anyone, teach Zack Snyder how to cut an action scene in a coherent way, please.
5. Eisenberg's Luthor is better than Spacey's Luthor, but that is a very low bar.
6. Zod is in this movie for no reason at all.
7. MORE WONDERWOMAN! We need more Wonder Woman now!
8. More Aquaman! (I may be the first person in history to say that ever).
9. Too many batman dream sequences.
10. Henry Cavill is just the worst. Really.
having said all of that, it is entertaining. It had the seeds of a great movie in there, it just doesn't find them. It's better than Ant-Man, Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, both Thor movies and Man of Steel.
I'm glad I saw it, but I'd like to see an anti-directors cut with about 35 minutes trimmed out.
Best part was the trailer for Lego Batman! I need to see that badly

“like a Brooklynite"
The Clinton camp now says that they will only debate Bernie if he "tones it down" and that they are worried that he will debate “like a Brooklynite". So, I guess she is saying that New Yorkers are rude, mean, nasty. Why does Hillary hate New York? Why is she afraid of Bernie Sanders?
This is crap. She is spinning out of control. MSNBC is saying that Bernie will win Wisconsin and New York. Bernie just crushed her in Hawaii (the least white state), Alaska (and of the five most diverse states) and Washington. Her poll numbers are starting to collapse. Going forward, Sanders will erase her lead and pull past her prior to the convention.
They see it coming.
They are afraid.

Afraid to debate
Hillary Clinton is afraid to debate Bernie Sanders. In the last few days her poll numbers have started to collapse. Bernie has won a string of massive blowout victories in the nation's most diverse states. Her fundraising has taken a dive and she's had to cut way back on spending (which is only going to make it easier for Bernie to expand his support in upcoming states). She's looking at a map that greatly favors Senator Sanders. And now, in a ham fisted attempt to control the course of events, she has revealed that she is terrified of facing Bernie in another debate.

I have hated these arguments for years. Why don't (insert : poor people, hurricane victims, tornado victims, gay people, blacks, asians, etc here) just move to a better place? Because, it is impossible to move when you have no resources. In most cases, if you could afford to move cross country, you wouldn't need to.

Trump and the "rise" of the dumb
It is worth noting that few people notice (or at least, are
willing to admit) that the modern Republican party is a scam. The monied
interests (Corporations, Banks, Rich assholes) use bigotry and religion to
trick poor white people into supporting candidates and positions that are
damaging to the well being (and even survival) of those same poor white people.
No one admits this. It isn’t allowed. The Republican party
does not give a flying fuck about abortion or gay marriage are creationism or
any of the other bullshit that uneducated white people get worked up about.
What they care about are dollars and power.
The Elders may be on the verge of admitting this.

lately, Hillary is doing everything in her power to tell the Democratic base (Progressives, People of Color and the LGBTQ Community) that she doesn't need them. Guess what, we don't need her either.

The Hillary problem
Hillary Clinton has issues. An argument can be made that her surreal lie about Reagan and AIDS is a symptom of a much deeper problem. It has not gone unnoticed that she praised War Criminal Henry Kissinger, decried Reconstruction as a bad thing and called young black men "super predators" that needed to be "brought to heel". Is Hillary really the sort of person that the Democratic party of 2016 should choose as its standard bearer?

Hillary Clinton praised the Reagans and suggested that they were fighters in the war on aids. This is revisionist history of the worst sort. Ronald Reagan, who died in 2004, was president for nearly five years before he said the word “Aids” in public, nearly seven years before he gave a speech on a health crisis that would go on to kill more than 650,000 Americans and stigmatize even more. In recent months, published reports have revealed an administration that laughed at the scourge and its victims and a first lady who turned her back on Rock Hudson, a close friend, when he reached out to the White House for help as he was dying from an Aids-related illness. “If there is a hell both Ronny and Nancy are Roasting,” wrote one Sister.... “Nancy and Ron Reagan were a functional team in the Presidency,” wrote Kenneth Bunch, aka Sister Vicious Power Hungry Bitch, one of the order’s co-founders. “They are both responsible for the death of thousands from HIV in the LGBT community due to their inaction in the 1980’s. So I understand the anger in the LGBT community toward Nancy. I feel that anger as well.”

Sanders Supported the Auto Bailout!
On CNN, David Axelrod, chief strategist for Obama's campaigns, called the attack on Sanders "too cute by half" and a "cheap shot."
Clinton's lies are quite enough. This is a fucking smear and a blatant lie. Sanders supported the auto industry bailout and opposed the wall street bailout.

Dogs and Men
Okay children, I have shared this before, but things have gotten more real since then. All God's Creatures is a small animal rescue in Columbus, KS. They have, over the last few years saved and homed hundreds if dogs and cats that may otherwise have been euthanized. They do good work. Great work.
They need a building. They have wanted to buy or build their own building for a long time. In the interim they have been using the Columbus Shelter to house dogs. They are losing the ability to use those facilities. If they cannot raise money soon, they will be out of business. No one else will fill the need and the animals will suffer.
If your read this annoying blog, follow the link and give a buck to help out.

Something about a limbic system
Over at amazon, one customer wrote the following about my strange book:
You can read it for free here
You can buy it here
Okay, so say you're channel surfing, and you come across ... oh I don't know, The Reaper, and you think to yourself, not a bad premise--a bunch of kids, minimum wage employment, some cute girls, lots of supernatural elements ... but something's missing--what the hell's missing from this picture? And then it dawns on you; Bukowski! Bukowski is missing. If Buk could rise up from the dead and find employment as one of the writers for The Reaper, you'd have something pretty similar to Stygiophilia, a fast paced, tight-lined, no holds barred, brick to the head, macabre tale of one man's quest for absolution.
This is a great read. A quick read (98 pages), but a great one none the less. Nathan gets in and gets out, but still manages to slowly reveal a horrific back story that shapes everything the narrator (and the reader) experiences.
My only issue with the book is the layout, but that's just (I assume) a technical issue and easily overlooked once you get cruising along with the story line, which--from a writing standpoint--is liquid smooth.

Trump's racist Friends
Well this is beautiful! After years of courting religious extremists, racists, sovereign citizen weirdos, and assorted crazies the Republican party is now faced with the stark reality that those people are in fact their base. It isn't pretty, but boy is it fun!

What Trump means
Maybe what Trump is telling us is that this experiment has simply run its course and that "America" is winding down. Maybe, just maybe, this grand idea had an expiration date. The constitution was stamped on the back USE BY 2018 or some such. Maybe that's natural. It isn't progress, though and that makes me sad.
And maybe (the hopeful part of me thinks) Trump's defeat in November will prove the opposite.

Libertarians for Sanders!
Reason (yes, I'm actually going to link to Reason) makes the case that libertarians should support Berni Sanders. I think they are right. Here's the link. They are not the only ones suggesting it. Even Penn Jillett is on board!
Hell, even Ron Paul praises Sanders. What I'm saying is, Libertarians should support Bernie Sanders.

Rankings!
LGM Ranks the candidates
I think they nailed it:
I think they nailed it:
Worst of the worst – Ted Cruz, dominionist death eater from the Lone Star state, for president!
Pros – Negative a bazillion.
Cons – Everything. There’s a joke going round that Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. That’s a compliment. I look at him and see a man whose hobbies include Handmaid’s Tale LARP with kidnapped hitchhikers, hanging around death row on execution eve with his hands thrust deep in his front pockets and listening to Nickleback. Mankind’s best hope would be a world killing asteroid.

RubioBot and Trump's penis
Marco Rubio (R - Borg Cube) has been reprogrammed to sound more like the Trump insult machine. His latest tactic: Insinuating that Trump has a tiny wang. I have to wonder at this strategy. He seems to believe that the way to woo voters is to behave like a twelve-year-old bully on the playground.
I think Rubio needs more beta testing.
Over on the Democratic side, two adults are disagreeing about issues and attempting to make their case to other adults.
Oh well.

Trump wins another debate with clowns
HuffPo has the best analysis of the most recent "debate":
Rubio looks more and more like a small child lost and out of his depth. Cruz may actually be the The Zodiac Killer.
And, poor Ben Carson seems to be drugged. All in all, a wonderful look into the modern Republican party.
Thursday night's Republican debate reached circus levels of absurdity. Wolf Blitzer lost control. Donald Trump took over. Marco Rubio dripped in sweat. Ted Cruz looked lost at home. Ben Carson seldom spoke but produced the wittiest zinger of the night. "Can someone please attack me," he begged, in an effort to be noticed amidst the massacre.Chaos

Marco Rubio is a Scandal 'Bot
It seems that Marco Rubio wants to Unseat The TRUMP and become the Republican Nominee in order to face either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. I hope he does. He is an oppo researcher's wet dream. Here are a few links, just for fun!
Marco Rubio has some issues that
should hurt his whitehouse bid.
There's this
and drug lords
and such
and real estate
which isn't going away
and the credit cards
and his arest record
which does not look good for a "values" Republican.
and these are the tip of the Marco Rubio Scandal iceberg

#WhichHillary
#WhichHillary exploded on Twitter after a video of her dismissive behavior toward Black Lives Matter activists went viral.
Now it’s being used to challenge everything from Clinton’s relationship with Wall Street to her record on gay marriage to her record on mass incarceration. But the hashtag isn’t just being fueled by the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s also getting a boost from Bernie Sanders’ army of Twitter supporters.Wired on #whichhillary
The hashtag reflects a new reality for political campaigns. Even if Sanders has vowed not to go negative, his followers online haven’t taken the same oath. Social media gives them the microphone to do it. For Clinton, the timing couldn’t be worse, as both she and Sanders have been working to court black voters in the lead up to the South Carolina primary.

Zombie Entanglement
Zombies are everywhere these days. The Walking Dead is the biggest thing on TV. Movies are overrun with the undead. Donald Trump's supporters are (mostly) brain dead flesh eaters. So, why not get into some serious zombie fiction.
In the early days of the zombie epidemic a group of survivors band together to escape their decimated city. As they travel through a savage, brutal landscape they encounter terrible brutality, surreal events, and the end of history. Along the way they stumble upon a mystery and attempt to solve it. If they succeed, mankind may be saved. How to make Love Like a Zombie is a dark, brutal, sexually twisted exploration of the depths of man's depravity.
How to Make Love Like a Zombie
Seriously, give it a shot.
